Older neighbourhoods like Wedding, Neukölln-Süd and Lichtenberg still offer 1-bedroom rents from €950 to €1,250. Outer districts (Spandau, Marzahn, Köpenick) range from €750 to €1,000.

Renewal rents (people renewing existing leases) are typically 25-40% lower thanks to Mietpreisbremse (rent control), but those flats almost never come on the open market — so a new arrival to Berlin pays the higher market rate.
