Architectural fees are typically structured by service phase — from concept design through to construction supervision. Each phase deserves its own line so the client's accounting team can match payments to deliverables and so any disputed phase doesn't block the rest of the invoice.
Smart VAT engine
Cross-border B2C supply within the EU. As you are not registered for OSS, your home-country VAT (20% in AT) applies. Once your annual EU-wide distance sales exceed €10 000, OSS registration becomes mandatory.
- ⚠ If your annual cross-border B2C sales in the EU exceed €10 000, you must register for OSS and switch to destination-country VAT.
- ⚠ The customer is marked as a business but has no VAT number. Treated as B2C unless a valid VAT number is provided.

- Should architectural fees follow HOAI / equivalent fee scales?
- In Germany the HOAI fee scale is no longer mandatory after the 2019 ECJ ruling, but it remains a useful reference. Other EU countries have similar non-binding fee tables. Quote whatever fee your contract sets; the invoice mirrors that fee, not the table.
